Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month is observed in June as an opportunity to spread the word about and discuss Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. Throughout the month, the Alzheimer’s Association encourages people around the globe to support the movement by wearing purple. Another way to  join the fight against the disease is to register for an annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s in your area. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s® is the world’s largest fundraiser for Alzheimer’s care, support and research.

Those who are interested in learning more or becoming a Dementia Friend can attend the Dementia Friends Information Session held on the second Tuesday of the month from 1:00pm to 2:00pm via Zoom. Register for an upcoming session at dementiafriendsindiana.org/events-calendar/. Dementia Friends Indiana initiative is an outreach of Dementia Friendly America. The initiative seeks to educate communities about dementia, break down the stigma surrounding dementia, and implement practical changes that make life easier to navigate for those with dementia and for their loved ones.

Meet Hollyn Anderson, our new Caregiver Programs Coordinator!

Hello! My name is Hollyn Anderson, and I am the Caregiver Programs Coordinator at LifeStream. I am a Ball State alumni, and I love being outside!

My passion for helping caregivers, older adults, and individuals living with dementia continues to grow each day, and I am eager to serve in this position and help in whatever ways I can. I am looking forward to helping more caregivers get connected to the resources they need to help care for themselves and maintain the good quality of life they deserve. If you or someone you know is caring for a loved one, please contact me with any caregiving related needs!
