Amy Reeves of Wayne County County was one of 20+ adults to receive the Golden Hoosier Award from the State of Indiana at a ceremony on Wednesday, September 2. The Golden Hoosier Award acknowledges outstanding Indiana seniors for the impact they have made on the lives of others and their entire community. The award is the highest honor given to a senior in Indiana.
Amy, along with Jeannine Harrold of Delaware County, were the recipients of the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award. The LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award is announced in the Spring and acknowledges outstanding volunteerism among seniors in LifeStream’s 12 county service area including Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties. LifeStream then nominates the recipients for the statewide Golden Hoosier Award.

Amy Reeves– For over 55 years, Amy Reeves has been the dedicated heartbeat of her special-needs Girl Scout troop, creating a safe, family-like space where confidence thrives. Her extraordinary spirit of service extends deeply into her community through First English Lutheran Church, where she helps run the Laundry Project twice a month, serves in youth programs, and plays in the handbell choir. Additionally, Amy volunteers at the Circle U Help Center serving and delivering hot meals to shut-ins, and she shares her time with the Friends Fellowship Community’s “Opening Minds through Art” program, leaving an enduring legacy of quiet, consistent grace across every life she touches.
Jeannine Harrold– Jeannine has dedicated over 45 years to civic leadership and volunteerism in the Muncie and Delaware County communities, earning the David Sursa Leadership Award (2018) and the WIBU Lifetime Achievement Award (2022). As a founding board member and past president of Shafer Leadership Academy (2007–2017), she was instrumental in building its organizational foundation and guiding its executive leadership transitions. Beyond this, she has spent over 30 years supporting the Minnetrista Cultural Center—transitioning from a grassroots volunteer to a Board Trustee and Secretary—and actively preserves local heritage as a researcher and storyteller for the Delaware County Historical Society. Her extensive regional impact also includes serving as board president for the YWCA and Altrusa Club of Muncie, co-founding the Muncie Young Professionals and the Ball State University Foundation Discovery group, and contributing to youth programs, local fundraising efforts, and High Street United Methodist Church.
Amy and Jeannine are two of many volunteers who make a difference across the state of Indiana and beyond.
