Folks are getting ready for the total solar eclipse! East Central Indiana is in the path of totality for the eclipse coming on Monday, April 8, 2024. This is an exciting event and will bring an influx of tourists to our state. Here are some tips to stay safe and prepared:
- Schedule any errands and appointments for the week prior to the eclipse.
- Buy any necessary groceries and gas in advance.
- Call your pharmacist or doctor to schedule and pick up prescriptions in advance.
- Have a communication plan in place with family, doctors, and caregivers.
- Protect your eyes: Do not look directly at the eclipse without proper protection glasses. The same goes for our pets—shield their eyes from the eclipse.
- Traffic will be heavy and local services will be crowded—stay home and avoid going out if you’re able. Enjoy the total eclipse from the comfort of your home.
