Each year, LifeStream recognizes outstanding volunteers in our community with the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to have an official ceremony, so we surprised the recipients with their awards Ed McMahon style!

This year’s recipients of the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award were Ann Herrman and Jan Bronnenberg. The honorees this year were Linda Morris, Jane Ann Runyon, and Edna Cox!

Ann was recognized for her ten years of volunteerism at the Richmond Rose Garden. She attends board meetings, trains new volunteers, organizes the 1st Bloom and Glow fundraiser, and, of course, looks after her allotted Rose Garden bed. When Ann isn’t volunteering at the Rose Garden you will find her sharing her time at the Holy Family Catholic Church, Hayes Arboretum, Boys and Girls Club of Wayne County, Cardinal Greenway and the Cope Environmental Center.

Jan was nominated for her volunteerism with Ascension St. Vincent Anderson for 11 years of service. Jan attended a funeral of a fellow nurse and noticed a nurse in a white uniform and cap that stood at the foot of the casket. This gesture touched Jan so much that she came back and started a Nursing Honor Guard program at Ascension St. Vincent. To date the honor guard has honored 179 RN’s and LPN’s. Jan has also started 16 Nursing Honor Guard programs throughout the state of Indiana. Jan also spends her time volunteering with United Way Senior Link, Henry County Pregnancy Care Center, creating “Hope Bags” for the homeless and sharing her experience as a nurse with the students at Anderson University.

Each of these individuals were nominated by LifeStream for the state of Indiana’s Golden Hoosier Award. We will know soon who the Indiana Golden Hoosier Award winners are!  To read more about the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Winners and Honorees please visit our webpage lifestreaminc.org/news-events.
