Every May, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM). In 2022, the focus is on aging in place – how older adults can plan to stay in their homes and live independently in their communities for as long as possible. The 2022 theme is Age My Way, an opportunity for all of us to explore the many ways older adults can remain in and be involved with their communities.
In support of Older Americans Month, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb made a proclamation to note May as Older Americans Month stating, “Indiana can enrich the lives of older individuals by promoting home and community-based services that support independent living, involving older adults in community planning and other activities, and providing opportunities for older adults to work, volunteer, learn, lead and mentor.”
To celebrate, LifeStream Services is hosting events in their 12-county service area all month long and inviting their communities to participate. LifeStream staff will be visiting congregate meal sites, sharing information, and distributing giveaways throughout the month.
