April is National Volunteer Month! Volunteers are a vital part of the impact non-profit organizations have, including LifeStream Services. Volunteers are an important part of many LifeStream programs—they assist in delivering meals, serving at our senior café sites, providing companionship, and many other important tasks.

Volunteering has many benefits—not only for the community being served, but those who are volunteering themselves. Getting involved in volunteer opportunities can give your life a sense of direction and purpose. It lessens depressive symptoms and feelings of isolation, all while helping your community.

There are many volunteering opportunities available, and each one offers the chance to learn new skills, meet new people, and boost your confidence. Interested in nutrition? Consider volunteering at one of LifeStream’s senior cafe sites. Want to meet new people? Volunteer with our concierge program to chat with someone new. Whatever your interests are, LifeStream has an opportunity that fits you best. Reach out to our Volunteer Services Administrator, Laura Bray, at lbray@lifestreaminc.org or (765) 808-8827.

One way we help our communities show appreciation for volunteers is through the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award. We are now seeking nominees age 65 or older for the LifeStream Golden Hoosier Award. The community is encouraged to nominate those special volunteers who consistently go above and beyond demonstrating passion and commitment to service in their community. Learn more and submit your nominations at lifestreaminc.org/goldenhoosier.
