The State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) provides free, impartial health insurance information for people with Medicare. SHIP is a part of a federal network of State Health Insurance Assistance Programs and is not affiliated with any insurance company or agency and does not sell insurance.
SHIP helps answer your questions about Medicare, Medicare Supplemental Insurance, Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, long-term care insurance, prescription drug coverage, and low income assistance. SHIP provides tools and information to help you make decisions regarding your health care, and strives to help you be wise consumers and to get the most value for your health insurance dollars.
There are important upcoming Medicare dates to remember. October 15 begins Open Enrollment when all Medicare beneficiaries can make changes to their health and prescription drug plans. Individuals can use Medicare’s Plan Finder at medicare.gov/plan-compare to find a plan that meets their needs. Open Enrollment ends on December 7.
LifeStream has trained SHIP counselors on staff that are able to assist you with the complexities of healthcare. SHIP counselors will be available during Open Enrollment beginning on October 15 through December 7 in Blackford, Delaware, Fayette, Franklin, Grant, Henry, Jay, Madison, Randolph, Rush, Union, and Wayne counties.
