March is Social Work Month, and we at LifeStream Services want to show our appreciation for all that social workers do! The National Association of Social Workers is celebrating this year’s Social Work Month with the theme “Empowering Social Workers.” Each year, the NASW highlights a new theme around a prevalent social issue. This year’s theme focuses on persuading Americans to better support social workers.
Social workers support and advocate for vulnerable populations, promote social justice, empower individuals and communities, and so much more. You can find social workers in many public civic places, such as hospitals, community centers, schools, and social service agencies like Area Agencies on Aging–including LifeStream Services. Many of LifeStream’s care managers are also social workers.
The compassion that social workers have for the well-being of individuals in our community makes a profound difference. Social workers are always on the individual’s side, constantly working in their best interest, by helping them develop skills, access resources, and build support systems. Social workers also hold in-depth knowledge of social systems, policies, and resources, making them experts in offering the most beneficial options for each individual’s unique situation.
