As part of the Older Americans Act, Area Agencies on Aging like LifeStream Services are required to do an area plan to outline how they will work to meet the goals of the Older Americans Act in their Planning and Service Area (PSA). Area Plans are reviewed and approved by the Area Agency’s Advisory Council. Plans are done every two years and submitted to the Indiana Division of Aging. The Division of Aging and the Indiana Commission on Aging review and approve the plans. The Division of Aging then incorporates the 16 Area Agency Area Plans in Indiana into one State Plan.
LifeStream, and all Area Agencies on Aging, are seeking feedback and input from community stakeholders to develop the plan. Surveys were done in February with community stakeholders. The results of a recent (2013) statewide needs assessment were also used in the development of the plan.
The plan is open for public comment until Friday, March 24th. A public hearing will also be held at Forest Park Senior Center on Tuesday, March 21st at 10am. The final plan will be submitted to the Division of Aging by March 31st.
